Describing the Migdal effect with a bremsstrahlung-like process and many-body effects

چکیده

Recent theoretical studies have suggested that the suddenly recoiled atom struck by dark matter (DM) particle is much more likely to excite or lose its electrons than expected. Such Migdal effect provides a new avenue for exploring sub-GeV DM particles. There been various attempts describe in liquids and semiconductor targets. In this paper we incorporate treatment of bremsstrahlung process electronic many-body effects give full description bulk targets diamond silicon. Compared with results obtained atom-centered localized Wannier functions (WFs) under framework tight-binding (TB) approximation, method proposed study yields larger event rates low energy regime, due $\omega^{-4}$ scaling. We also find photon mediating Coulomb interaction between ion electron-hole pair equivalent exchange single phonon.

Bremsstrahlung in dense matter and Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effect

Bremsstrahlung is usually treated in second order perturbation theory of QED, yielding the well-known BetheHeitler formula [1]. In dense media, medium effects have to be accounted for. Successive scattering of high energy electrons in amorphous media [2] significantly suppresses the photon spectrum at low photon energies compared to Bethe-Heitler theory. This effect, known as LandauPomeranchuk-...

Radiative heat transfer: many-body effects

Heat transfer by electromagnetic radiation is one of the common methods of energy transfer between objects. Using the fluctuation-dissipation theorem, we have studied the effect of particle arrangement in the transmission of radiative heat in many-body systems. In order to show the effect of the structure morphology on the collective properties, the radiative heat transfer is studied and the re...

abstract while task-based instruction is considered as the most effective way to learn a language in the related literature, it is oversimplified on various grounds. different variables may affect how students are engaged with not only the language but also with the task itself. the present study was conducted to investigate language and task related engagement on the basis of the task typolog...

The Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal E ffect and Suppression of Beamstrahlung and Bremsstrahlung in Linear Colliders

It is well known that beamstrahlung and bremsstrahlung take place over a finite formation zone distance. If something disturbs the electron during this time, the emission can be suppressed. In this paper, we examine the Landau-PomeranchukMigdal (LPM) effect and other LPM-like effects, such as the longitudinal density (dielectric) suppression and EM field suppression of beamstrahlungand bremsstr...

Description of the CERN SPS data on the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effect for photon bremsstrahlung in quantum regime

We analyze within the light-cone path integral approach [4] the recent CERN SPS data [19] on the Landau-Pomeranchuk-Migdal effect for photon bremsstrahlung in quantum regime from 149, 207, and 287 GeV electrons. Calculations have been carried out treating accurately the Coulomb effects and including the inelastic processes. Comparison with experiment is performed accounting for multi-photon emi...
